The School Council

Year Council

The Year Council has 13 members. Two from each form group in that year (one boy and one girl), and one Prefect who has responsibility for organisation of the council.

The Year Council meets once every half term to discuss themes/issues affecting their year group.

The themes/issues discussed will come from all of you. If there is something that you would like addressed then you must tell one of the Year Councillors in your form. They will take your thoughts to the Year Council meeting for discussion. There may also be points for discussion set by the Senior Prefects.

A record will be made of the meeting and read out during form period so that you can find out what happened.

At each meeting two items will be chosen and be taken to the School Council.

School Council

The School Council has 10 members from KS3/4. Two from each year group (one boy and one girl from each Year Council). There are also a number of 6th form students that sit on the council. Two Senior Prefects are in charge of the School and all of the Year Councils.

The School Council meets once every half term to discuss themes/issues affecting students across the school.

The themes/issues discussed come from the Year Council meetings and from the Senior Leadership Group (Mr Thorne, Mrs Lake, Mr Taylor, Mr Parker and Mrs Browne).

A record will be made of each meeting and read out during Assembly so that you can find out what happened. It will also be posted on this board and online.

Following each meeting the two Senior Prefects will attend the weekly SLG meeting to discuss the thoughts of the School Council. You will also find out about this meeting in assembly.

Charity Work

Doing something and raising money for charity as a form group is an expectation at Davenant Foundation School. Your Year Council representative will be in charge, along with your Form Tutor for organising this. You should be doing something once per term – three times per year.
