Library celebrates with new Year 7s

Roald Dahl week

The start of term has been as busy as ever in the Arter Library. To celebrate the birthday of the late famous children’s author, Roald Dahl, the Library held a Year 7 form competition to produce some amazing bunting, which now bedecks the library ceiling. The winning form was 7V in a very close run competition. In joint 2nd place was 7D and 7T, with forms A E and N taking joint 3rd place. The themed wordsearch was won by Aliyah Wheatley.

The library team also produced a ‘tempting’ display of goodies from the Revolting Recipes cookbook.

Free books for new Year 7 students

In the coming weeks, our new Year 7s will be able to choose a free book to keep, courtesy of the Library. The books that have been purchased by the Library offer a wide range of stories covering many tastes and reading abilities, from humorous tales to more serious themes. The selection features books from well-known children’s authors such as Jo Nesbo and John McNally, along with titles by new authors for our young readers.

E-safety Poem and Information for Parents

As we draw to the end of another school year we would like to share this wonderful poem, 'The Technology that Surrounds Us', that was written by a Year 9 student, Eleanor Lee.  It gives us all a lot of food for thought.  Please click here to view http://davenantschool.co.uk/images/pdfs/pdfs/The_Technology_that_surrounds_us.pdf .

The E-safety page for parents on our website aims to provide you with up to date information to help keep your children safe in the ever changing world that we live in.  You can access the page from the 'Information' menu by selecting 'Parents' and then 'E-safety' - or click here to view directly.

We would particularly like to draw your attention to the items below (both of which are on the Parent E-safety page):

We hope you find this interesting and informative.
